Bylaws of the Southern California Korean Artists Association

The Southern California Korean Artists Association was founded in 1964 as the Nasung Korean Artists Association. In the early 1960s, the association operated according to general rules without formalizing its bylaws. In the 1970s, a provisional bylaw was drafted, and the name was changed to the Southern California Korean Artists Association. At the 14th regular general meeting in 1978, these bylaws were significantly revised and supplemented, and the current bylaws were finalized and approved.

This was published at the end of the Association's exhibition catalog.

Afterwards, at the 34th Annual General Meeting of 1998 on November 20, 1987, and the 35th Annual General Meeting of 1998 on October 16, 1999,

parts of the Articles of Incorporation were amended to remain in effect to this day.

Chapter 1 Name

Article 1: This Association shall be called the Southern California Korean Artists Association.

Chapter 2 Location

Article 2: This Association shall have its headquarters in Los Angeles.

Chapter 3 Purpose and Business

Article 3: This Association shall contribute to the friendship and artistic activities of its members, as well as to the emotional well-being and art education of its members.

Article 4: This Association shall cooperate with all members' exhibitions and social gatherings, and with the art museum activities of its members and Korean residents.

Chapter 4 Members

Article 5: Members of this Association shall be Korean artists residing in Southern California who have graduated from a regular university or have equivalent qualifications.

Article 6: Regular members are those who have fulfilled their membership obligations in the previous year and have the right to vote and be elected at the General Assembly.

Chapter 5 Officers

Article 7: To run the Association, the Association shall have an Executive Committee, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors.

Article 8: The Executive Committee shall consist of one President and one Vice President. The President shall be elected at the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Board of Directors.

The Vice President shall be appointed upon the recommendation of the President and with the approval of the General Assembly.

Article 9: The executive board consists of one general affairs manager and one accountant, and is appointed upon recommendation by the board of directors and approval by the general meeting.

Article 10: The president must obtain the consent of the board of directors when joining external organizations or participating in events in his or her capacity as president of the association.

Even in an individual capacity, he or she must refrain from joining non-cultural organizations.

Article 11: Directors are elected upon recommendation by the current board of directors, including the former presidents, and with the approval of the general meeting.

The current president and former presidents automatically become directors. However, if a director fails to attend two association exhibitions during the automatic term, he or she will lose his or her directorship.

Article 12: Directors must attend board meetings, and if he or she fails to attend for one year, he or she will lose his or her directorship.

Article 13: The Board of Directors shall be governed by the Chairman and shall serve as an advisory body to the Executive Committee, including decisions on artwork evaluation, award/disciplinary action, financial audits, and other important matters.

... Article 18: General Assembly resolutions, officer elections, etc. shall be approved by a majority vote of the members present.

Chapter 7 Miscellaneous

Article 19: The operating expenses of the Association shall be covered by membership dues and maintenance contributions.

Article 20: The Association's Bylaws may be amended, as required by Article 20 of Chapter 7, Supplementary Provision 3, with the approval of at least two-thirds of the members present at the General Assembly. However, such amendments shall be notified to the Board of Directors prior to the General Assembly for discussion and shall be approved at the General Assembly.

Supplementary Provisions

1. Membership in the Association shall be determined by submitting 10 slides and reviewing them by the Board of Directors.

2. Members of the Association shall fulfill their obligation to pay membership dues.

3. Works submitted to the exhibition must be works created within the past year and not exhibited.
